Jessie's and Richard's quilt top

Hi friends!
Finally finished the top!
Today is Tommy's and Wayne's birthday!  So I will make them a cake!
Tommy said he just wanted to stay at home today.
Yesterday it stormed all around us abut not here! Which is good since Tommy's mower is tore up and he doesn't get the part to fix it until Friday.  So maybe the grass want grow so fast.
I guess I will work on the veteran's quilt today so I will have two to sandwich. Never did make up my mind how to finish that quilt up!
Have a good one

Jessica's Quilt.

Hi friends!
Worked on this all afternoon Sunday and didn't finish! Got most of it but not all! Hope to finish that today and get some sandwiching done. This is Jessie's graduation quilt for her for sticking to it after she married and for Richard for backing her all the way! Proud of those two!
Yesterday was spent canning. First we went and picked up some corn and orka from Cooks and got it home to mix with our ripe tomato's.
Tommy likes field corn in his soup.
I had called and ask Cook to hold some for me on Sunday and he said he would. Ten pounds of orka and a dozen ears of field corn.  As soon as some more tomato's ripen I will make another batch.
Still have plenty of corn and orka in my mother's  fridge that I have on the porch.
Have a good one

Strip Quilt

Hi friends!
Another row done on this but you see I need at least one more. Ran out of made blocks so this week I will be making blocks.
Need 7 more and then we will see.
Look what the mail man brought from Dawn. I saw JulieRose's bottle opener and loved that now I have one!
Can't wait to use it!
I have the very best friends!
She knows me well and knows I love Christmas fabric.
Our deer that has roamed around in the yard for weeks got killed!
Tommy taking it off!
People drive much to fast on our road and we saw this yesterday!  Hate that she got killed! Glad we bought that tractor for Tommy so he could do this!
She would stand still and watch you!

Kim's Quilt and our Week

Hi friends!
Been a rough week!
Sis had her knee replacement yesterday! Now the hard part starts! We spent Monday all afternoon at Tommy's Dr, Tuesday and Wednesday at the hospital with our daughter Kim and I went with brother and sis-in-law to the hospital in Chattanooga  for sis's surgery yesterday . Howard and Margaret was going back today and bring her home to spend a few days with them.
Tommy stayed here and cut grass!
I did get one seam sewed yesterday!
Wednesday got home and this was here from  angel  and great friend Julie Rose ,sent me some cheer-up.
Fabric and a diamond painting set! When I get time this will take my mind off things!
Hopefully every thing will calm down now for the summer.
I have done some work on my first kit!
I started on the side so black got boring since there was so much of it, so I changed to other colors . More interesting now.
Have a great weekend

Jessica and Richard's Quilt

Hi friends!
One end right on Jessica's Quilt. Worked on it all day Sat. Doesn't look like it would take that long but I keep finding it didn't match. On the edge where it was behind the bed post!
Now the other end!
May work on it later today. Jessica graduates from nursing school this December. I know she will be glad to just be working eight hours maybe five days. She has been working all weekend at the hospital and all week doing her intern work for school.
Spent the afternoon at the hospital with Kim , we are hoping it was just a reaction to her meds. Maybe we will find out today.
Tomorrow is Patsy day,. My Sis has knee surgery in a different town, different hospital than Kim.
Just hope every thing goes good for both!
Today Tommy is hoping to get some grass cutting done and me some sewing!
Have a good one

Abby's Quilt

Hi friends!
Worked on this!
She picked this fabric for her panel lap quilt. It match's!
Ready to be sandwiched!
Yesterday Tommy had a ultra sound and went to see his surgeon to hear the results. One year his artery in his neck went from 50 to 65 so every year we get worried ! But Thank the good Lord it didn't this time still at 65! Those surgery's are bad! His last one was nothing compared to that one . It's been 11 years since they did the other side.
I stopped at Ollie's and got some books, one after I got home my sis had already bought and I had read, the Catherine Coulter one. Should have know, sis buys them as soon as they release them..
We went to Red lobster and celebrated!
Have a good one

Weekend!

Hi friends!
I have made 7 of the 13 I needed to finish putting this quilt together. Let me show you what I mean by scraps blocks.
Scrap fabric and scrap pieces of battening!
Don't want to throw away nothing but tiny pieces!
That's the same block finished above.
I pin down scrap strips on each side and make one trip to the sewing machine and iron.
You know it rained so much this spring that it was May before we planted anything and then it was just tomato's.
Our fist tomato's!
We drink our coffee every mourning right here!
All summer long!
On one side is :
A blooming crepe myrtle and the garden.
On the other us these!
Rose of Sharon's!
Tommy built that porch , just like he built our living, sun room. He had the cement poured! It 55 feet long so big enough for the car and truck plus us a outside room.

Need more Fabric!

Hi friends!
I added this but hated it so took it back off!
That red is  the only thing I still have enough of to add borders so thinking about looking next week for something.
Made another string block!  That's all the sewing I got done yesterday. Hopefully I will have a few minutes this weekend.
I have spring fever , the spring cleaning kind!
Yesterday I did a deep clean of the bath-room and this morning I did the floors and furniture in the living room before Tommy got up.
Next is our bedroom! Maybe tomorrow the kitchen!
That might take a week!
Have a great weekend

Strip Quilt

Hi friends!
I had put this one back a few months ago! Drug it out! Really though I was further along on it than I was!
I added the blocks I had lose but that just completed the forth row. So back to making more blocks.
That was just recent scraps so I will have to dig out some more today.
Got this far about 8:30 and quit! Didn't start until after supper.
Have a good one

Jessica and Richard's quilt

Hi friends!
Got the width , now just to get all the right length.
Still a few that needs extending on both ends!
Look what I wanted for supper last night!
I stole a couple of green tomato's out of the garden and fried them up. I got a craving of these in one of my biscuits.
Tommy helped me eat them!
I don't cook biscuits very often because they are not good for you!
But sure are good!
So glad we are both feeling better, I sleep all night last night , first time in weeks.
Must have been those biscuits!  lol

Abby's

Hi friends!
I though I would start some Christmas gifts! This is Abby's lap quilt.
She and Kim are the only ones to pick their fabric they want to go with their's yet. When I get further alone on these I will send pictures of fabric to the other three and let them pick.
Beautiful panel, isn't it? All my step girls and my daughter in law fell in love with that panel so I bought another four.
Added a black border first.
Makes it stand out!
Abby picked this fabric to do the bigger border and it match's the red.
Just need some more borders to have a finished top.
If I can I want to finish all five by Thanksgiving and go ahead and give them theirs to use this year.
Will make them a small something for Christmas to give then.
Have a good one

Not much longer!

Hi friends!
Did a little work on this.
Not quit long enough! Though about adding a fabric border to the top and bottom.   I think it might be enough stars!!!
Maybe I am just tired of making them. I want it nice and long in case they give it to a tall man! If we do it like last year will will draw a name.
I spent a while yesterday cutting 4 1/2 inch squares , not sure what I will use them for. May just be a side sewing thing for a while.  Just to use up some of the scraps that are taking over.
Haven't been in the mood to sew , never though I would say that!
Guess it's just that I have felt bad for two weeks. Hope that's over with!
Think I will start Jessica some kitchen things. She loved the double pot holder I made her so will make her some more. To give her when I finish with her quilt.
Thinking of giving her this ! She has to get up early to go to the hospital, where she works.
Don't know if she drinks coffee but she drinks something.
Got to get something done!

Jessica's

Hi friends!
Not much sewing done yesterday. Just a little on this!. Added one more row that I had sewed onto this.
I have a half row done and I think I will need to make one more.
Also fixed a place that hadn't been sewed. I was so sleepy after sleeping  two hours the night before that  I could hardly move so last night I took two of those tiny pills and sleep like a baby.
She wanted me to see how each dose worked until I got it right so this will be it I think. Maybe if I can sleep good for two weeks I can stop taking it and still sleep.
At least that's what she thinks.
Taylor works with DR. Bowers.
Quilt Q-Bees tonight so I will report tomorrow.
