Finished! and Happy Birthday

Hi Friends!
Today is Tommy's birthday. He has finally got as old as I am. Praying for another 21 years with him.
My daughter's quilt is my only finish and I did the binding last night.
The ditch we dug yesterday. He used his tiller to loosen it up so we could shovel it into the bucket of his tractor.
Thought we would be sore today but we aren't.
He used his icy pad that I got him from Dr. Jeff and then his heating pad so maybe no damage to his back.
His sis sent him a pretty card and he got it this morning.
He filled in some spots in the front yard and low places where that cedar tree was.
It was wet when they cut those trees so he had tire tracks to fill in.
He moved most of that pile of sawdust they left to the back to dry out then Maybe to our garden. Because it sure does need something. We have planted in that spot for 18 years and It's not producing as good as it did. but it grows weeds great!
Have a good one

Our Weekend

Hi friends!
This was my weekend sewing.
I would quilt a while and then take a break , it's hard on your shoulders.
I can't seen to pile up enough pillows to get me over it on any table that we have.
But I did finish it.
Haven't done the binding yet so maybe today.
Friday night we had Tommy and Howard's birthday supper.  We had our favorites , hand made biscuits, steak and gravy. Plus tomato's from our garden .  Howard's is the 23th and Tommy's is the 31th. So is my grandson Wayne, he was born on Tommy's birthday. He was our graduate from last year so now he goes to college and then comes home and goes to work.
Proud of how smart all my grands are.
In May next year we have four in three different schools graduating. Just praying we can make it to all of them. Hard to be in two places at once.

This and That

Hi friends!
I got the backing cut for one pillow sham and then wondered off.
I can quilt! I am most likely holding that finger up as I do most of the time. Habit I guess!
The rest of the afternoon I quilted a while and then I would make a string block, then quilted and then another block.
It's restful; to make these blocks and free fabric! What's not to like!
We went to see Dr, Jeff today and shopped some but home now. Tommy is finally getting better. I had been telling him to use his hand trucks top dump that hugh bucket of water that the AC had been filling so yesterday he finally heard me.
Have a great weekend

Pillow Shams

Hi friends!
Making pillow shams for my daughter's quilt.
Tops of them made.
Though I would try a quilted pillow sham so I looked for some fabric that Abby brought me last year. Took me a while to find it.
See that's it! Had no Idea what to use it for but it works great for this.
Battening backing and front of the pillow sham!

No heavy quilting just sewed around the blocks and around the red strip. Will see how this does and then make changes if needed for the next pillow shams I make.
Finish them up after while with just regular backs.
I sewed some straight lines on her quilt  yesterday but  think I will try some free motion to see how my finger does with that.
Have a great day!
First day this week I get to stay home all day! Yah!
Maybe I can get lots done.

This and That

Hi friends!
Last weeks blocks!
Last night after putting up salsa I  made another.

Tommy's back is still messed up so many visit's to Dr. Jeff.
Tommy found this while cutting grass. It's not a holly but has the shiny leaves and berries.
He says his mother or his grandmother never had this so maybe a bird dropped a seed.
It's at the edge of our woods.
I made a double batch of salsa last year so I am getting rid of that to make a place for this , if the tomato's hold up I will make some more. Tommy can't eat it but lots of our  kids and grand-kids  can .

My Weekend

Hi friends!
Getting backing ready for a quilt.
Added this.
Getting the battening cut to the right size.
Last Friday I was watering my flowers when I moved our table with my hip and five bee's stung me on the back of my leg!
We had killed them and took down their nests so they hid one under the table.
I have lived here 18 years and never been stung before.
When Tatum my second year college student was three a bee stung her on our porch, but know one has been stung out there since.
I think they have multiplied like all the other flying insects this year. Have you noticed their are more bugs?
When this posts I will be at the funeral of a good friend, the one I made the Artic star quilt for.
Such a sweet christian lady that will really be missed.
Hug your family and friends

Today

Hi friends!
So much running around this week that there has been little or no sewing.
Made this string block last night.
I have been working a little on some thing I can't post about until it's delivered.
Picked these last night! Was going to make salsa but can't find the stuff I usually use to make it so will give them to family.
Did get what I needed in town so I could work on a few things.
More next week.
Have a great weekend

Loose Ends

Hi friends!
Yesterday was one of those days where nothing worked right. Didn't want to go to town but every thing I tried to do needed something bought.
This is a week Of  Dr's!  Monday we went to Rome and Tommy had his ultra sound , then we saw his vascular Dr.
A full day.
Yesterday he needed to see Dr. Jeff but he was closed so today we go see him and tomorrow I go see a Dr.in Rome.
To much Dr.'s!
W aren't used to seeing so many Dr's in one week.
Found this block, May need to make some more of them!
Like I don't have enough going on at one time.
Need to make a backing for this, got my battening last Friday for it and Tonia's.
Maybe after Dr. visit tomorrow I can settle down to some serious work.

Want Be Long

Hi friends!
Starting the last row of Michael and Ashley's quilt.
Made some more half tri-angles.
Soon I will have several quilt tops finished , hoping my finger is up to quilting in a few days. Right now it's still sore so I am waiting.
Don't know whether I will ever have feelings in that piece of finger but maybe!
It's still a little swelled!
Still making stars for Anna's quilt. Soon I can put it together.
Have a good one
