MY Quilt Finish , one for my aunt

Hi friends!
I finished this last week and visited my Aunt to give it to her yesterday.
She  is the last of my father's family my daddy's baby sister, i have my aunt that was married to J.D. but that it. They were a really big family with 15 kids but we have lost them all but these two.
So when i started this quilt i wanted it for her.
She is just 8 years older than me!
She has always been a favorite because we are close in ago, She and my Aunt Betty jo , my mother's baby sister are the same age.
She had a heart attack 2 years ago and when we got their they had put in a stint and she was still in recovery but they let me and sis in to see her, She was really in good spirits just like always.
She had always been a card! Would crack you up talking to you. She is a blessing!
Petted me to death when i was little.
Once said" If spoiling could hurt you Barbara [me] would be cankered."
She is a sweetie!
Last night we had some of that potato soup Plus Biscuits and and fri-baked orka!
Tommy can't have fried food so we came up with this way of cutting down on grease.
And of course our tomato's , both the tomato's and orka came from our garden.
I made these sweet  pickles last Friday and i am going to try to make some more today if i have enough cucumbers. Chicken salad with any other pickles will not be eaten at this house.
I put it in potato salad to.
Have a good one
Hugs
Quilt Happy

Oh looks like your sweet Aunt loved that beautiful quilt ;--))
Man that food sounds sooo good! I'll bet you are a wonderful cook...
Today I made my chicken and rice casserole (one of Tommy's very favorites--as he is still a bit sore and needs some pampering!!)
It will even be good leftover for lunches over the weekend.
I finished sewing one row of 10 blocks (2 by 2) on Cassidy's quilt this afternoon. 10 more to go....this heat is getting to us..so we put on the AC...hugs Julierose

Great memories to have of your aunt. I think at one time my MIL was close the the ancient aunt in the same way, they were only about 8 years apart too.

She looks so pleased with her quilt. It's gorgeous! Such a bright and happy quilt. And those pickles! YUM! Not to many people make sweet pickles anymore. We do. Sweet, bread and butter, and a few dill every year. And at the end of every year I always say I'm not making anymore. But the extended family loves them and eats them all before the next years crop is ready.

Your aunt LOVES her quilt!! II'm itching to start a quilt when my class is done. It's amazing how you juggle canning and quilting. I LOVE sweet pickles and bread and butter. If you are short on blog post ideas, I'd love to have your chicken salad recipe. Chicken salad is one of my very favorite food.
Have a great 4th.
xx, Carol
