Jack the ripper

Hi friends!
Beautiful day!
I worked on my blue boys quilt last night.  Been ripping out the seams!!!
I put in 3 seams across it before i checked it and it was stretching and folding to beat the band!!
At that  time i just put it back!   But i needed to finish it so i worked on ripping out seams last night.
My little lighted seam ripper really helps.  Some seams had bogged down and you couldn't see them well enough to get under them with the naked eye.
We showed it to my sis last sat. And she was going to get some to give as gifts.

Rain!!

Hi friends!
This is the way it looked all day yesterday!
So i made hay while it rained!
I made this pillow for us.   All i like finishing it is closing the opening .
We had a quiet weekend, sis came over Saturday and red haired daughter and her hubby came over yesterday.   I hope sis made it back to Athens yesterday.  It's east of us so she would be traveling in storms all the way.  She has her vacation home here , where she will retire someday.  But she also owns a house in Athens where she has worked for the last 10 or so years.

 Look what showed up in the mail this morning.  Brooke's scraps!!!!!!  She has the best scraps.  This is the 3th time i have won her scraps in the last year.  I am a scrap quilter so her scrap's come in handy.  She sent me a e-mail Sat. saying she had mailed it and here it is on Monday.
 I think we quilters single handily keep up the post office.  Don't see how they could be going bankrupt .  
I am nearly at 20000 views on this blog and when i get there i am having another giveaway.  So read, read ,read.

Hubby got the garden plowed again, and then it rained.   It's suppose to rain until Tuesday!
He will plow it at least one more time before he plants.

Quilt!

Hi friends!
Beautiful today but suppose to rain the next 3  days!
My quilt is ready to quilt now.    I can still see that beautiful  little face saying ' pink and purple'
Her birthday party is one week from Sunday.   I will take pictures!
Hubby is outside plowing up the garden again.  He will plow it one more time before we plant.  He does that to kill the weeds.
They are saying we could get 3 or 4 inches of rain before it moves out.
Well now that tiller has messed up again.  The more toys you have the more it cost to keep them up.
I think i need a job! Just to keep up hubby's toys!

Quilt.

Hi friends!
Beautiful day!
I took my sideways block out yesterday and then spent hours sewing large pieces of muslin together for a backing for the quilt.  Only to hate it and change my mind.
But now it's ready to sandwich so hopefully i will get that done today.

I got this in the mail today. the fat quarter was a very nice surprise.

I had won a pin from 'lucktpupquilters' and she sent me this beautiful fat quarter along with it.

Wasn't that sweet of her?

Quilt!

Hi friends!
Stormy day!
I sewed my blocks together Monday night and saw one block was sideways, so today i am using my great lighted jack the ripper to take it out and get it right side up.
They changed Gracies birthday party to the 5th so i will have it finished in plenty of time.
Should get it together by the end of the week and ready to bind.
We were both wore out last night so i didn't get any sewing done at all .
It's amazing what running around all day does to you when you are in your seventy's.
I love my days at home so i can sew!

Gracie's quilt!

Hi friends!
It has been a beautiful day.
 We have been on the road all day enjoying this day!
When i laied our my blocks  i knew i need three more star blocks, so here  they are !

We went to see hubby's sister today and gave her a pillow and some towels and pot holders that i had made for her and her hubby.
Her hubby does most of the cooking so he will need them .  Their birthdays are close together and last year i cooked lunch for them . this year she has been sick so i just made her some things.
well i am wore out so i am getting off here.  To old to run around all day!

 The second picture is Gracies quilt laied out to see how i want it to go.
The third is some blocks that my sis had left over when she made a quilt out of this amazing fabric. So i am making something from what she gave me.
I will quilt it with my walking foot that my sweet daughter got for me.

Finished cradle

Hi friends!
Rainy day!
Perfect for sewing.
These blocks are called 'calico puzzle'.  i did 2 of the pink and 2 purple for gracies quilt.

I finished d. j.'s cradle, i think?. Sent her a picture and she said she liked it.

I made her two sheets for the little mattress and put her baby blanket in there too.

I will make her a quilt later on to save and give her if they have a shower for her.

Now i can work on Gracie's quilt and get it finished.

I really don't know any thing else i can do to her cradle, all of this can be removed with a seam ripper and it will be a boy cradle again.

Pray for the people of Boston and Waco, Texas. We have had  a bad week , hopefully next week will be better.

There are so many crazies in this world.

And our congress doesn't want to buck the gun company's so they don't look out for the people any more.   Maybe they will get voted out next election.

I have the best daughter in the whole world !And a win

Beautiful day!
My daughter was here Sunday , she brought Angel to get her birthday quilt.   We were talking and i told her i wanted to learn to free motion quilt.   So naturally she wants to get me what i need to do! that. Isn't she the greatest.  She said it would be an early mothers day gift.
It's came Wednesday!
I have not played with it yet but plan on doing it today.
Took hubby to have his eyes checked yesterday, and he said he thought he would probably have to have surgery on one eye in the next six months.
When we got home i cleaned some and all the sewing I got done was two blocks for Gracies quilt.

Saturday i got a package in the post from 'terri  from the blog   " terri's notebook". i had won her giveaway and she let me pick out what i wanted in her 'esty' shop" patchwork trails". And i just love what she sent me.

She included the little clutch in to. Wasn't  that nice!

I talk to her back and forth and she is so nice.  You need to visit her shop. She has some really great stuff.

Gracies quilt!

Three more blocks for my baby's quilt.

I have made two little sheets for d. j. 's cradle.I made them out of the fabric that wasn't right for a baby girls cradle.

This is the other one.  I made it a little larger, you know how fabric shrinks.

My angels quilt was 60" by 80' before i washed it . After it measured  57" by 73. 

That's a lot of shrinking.

Gracies quilt and a win!

This is for Gracies quilt.
i started it in pink but it didn't want to show up so i changed it.

Draggin today! not enough sleep.
I started that red work in pink for Gracies quilt but it didn't want to show up so i changed it, maybe Gracie likes red too.
I got a e-mail last week from Diane Harris of Quiltmaker, she said i had won a book.  You know i love quilt books.  I was surprised to find fat quarters included.  Love them too.  Maybe i can use some of them in Gracies quilt too
Still working on d.j.'s cradle i will show pictures when i get finished.  I hope it works for her
