Hi friends!
Beautiful day but rain tonight.
My yellow lilac are blooming, that is the last color that I have to bloom.
The white blooms first and then the  purple and last the yellow.

I have been thinking about a rag quilt!
Maybe a denim one because I have plenty of these three fabric's.
I talked to my quilting friends last night and they said for the first wash to carry it to the laundry mat
One lady said to put a hose over the drain but I am afraid it will mess up that expensive septic tank we put in last fall..
I might try a small  one and put it in a pillow case just to see how bad this fabric frays .  I suppose I could just wash the flimsy first in a pillow case  to see.
I was going to give it to my daughter and she has a septic system to.  With 7 kids still living at home and her the breadwinner she cant afford a new septic tank.

Today is one week from the day Tommy planted and we can see plants popping up all over and the tomato's  are growing real good , I need to get a few more to go all the way to the end of the row.
We just bought 12 last week.

Great Mothers day

Hi friends! Beautiful day!
My son sent me battening for mothers day and my daughter got me tulips and a card to buy fabric.
Great kids right!!
My red headed daughter brought me a rose and they spent a few hours with us.
Tommy cooked my breakfast so I had a great Mother's day!
And Oldest step sent me a message to say happy Mother's day and that she loved me

I am playing with fabric seeing if I can make a Texas star for Grandson's quilt  This may just be practice because I am having trouble  getting my points right.

I will have to look for a video for this block. Plus I don't know whether this fabric will go with what every I buy for the rest of the quilt.   So right now I am practicing and trying to get them right.

I will keep you informed on how it goes.  if you know of a good video let me know , please

Hope Every one has a great Mothers Day

Gracies Birthday Party

Hi friends!
Cloudy day but it didn't rain on Gracie's birthday party.
We gave  her  a pillow to match her quilt, and a crochet blanket for her dolls.  Kari said she had put up her baby quilt that I made her before she was born.
Gave Kari a crocheted blanket to put up to save for when  Gracie  marries and has her first child.

Look what my daughter got me for  Mothers day, alone with a card to buy me some more fabric.  She said for me to get me something with it but I have clothes so I will get fabric.
That gives me pleasure making for my kids and grand kids and great grands.
When  me and sis goes to Hamricks I usually get me a lot of clothes.  And we are going in about three weeks.
Tommy is so good he says get every thing you want, when he goes with me he is always adding things into the buggy for me.  I have to make him get him something for himself.

Luke's quilt finished

Hi friends!
Rainy day!
I went ahead and took pictures of it before I finished the binding because it's suppose to rain for a few days.  May be a few days before the sun shines again for me to take pictures..

I washed it this morning so all I like now is a label.

One more of it!
His sister is five and I didn't want her to feel left out when I give her parent's and Luke a quilt so I made her a doll quilt.

This was made in the sun to since then I have squared it up and put a binding on it.

It needs a label on it too and it will be ready.

Luke's quilt

Beautiful day!
Yesterday I started quilting Luke's quilt.

I love it,  even if they don't I think it just right for a 1 year old boy.  I love the 'I spy" part and the cowboys.

I sewed on the binding and last night I started hand sewing it down.  I used the stripe that I ordered just for binding's.  I got a sheet to do the backing, twin sized top sheet, and it is about the same across as the quilt.  The quilt is just a little shorter than the sheet.
 I am planning my next quilt , one for my oldest grand son.  What he wants I may have to simplify so that I can do it.
He picked a paper pierced pattern and I can't do that.
I am searching for one that I think I can do that looks like what he wants.

Gracie's pillow and giveaway day

These are the colors Gracie picked for her quilt  and I made her quilt out of them.  Now I am making her a pillow sham to match for her 5th birthday.

Sis and win

Hi friends!
Beautiful day!
Sis came up Saturday and brought me several big bags of battening and fabric.

She has started cleaning out things from her house in Athens  because she has turned 62 and has retiring on her mind.
She may not retire until she is 64 but she now has that option.
If they make her mad at work she wants to be ready.
She is going to sell her furniture in that house because she has her house up here full of furniture.
She has a sewing room there and one up here! so she is cleaning it up and bringing things up here and I get the scraps.  You know I love scarps!
She also brought me some large cuts of fabric that she didn't want any more and some Muslin that I can sew together to make backing for my quilts.

This is 12 fat quarters that I won last week from Jean at
jeans quilting but they came from Fabric Worm.  Aren't they great!!!
That's three yards of gorgeous fabric.  I will have fun planning what to make with these.

Bentley's shower

Hi friends!!
Beautiful day!
Every one liked Bentley's quilt!

They decided  to bring him so every one could play pass the baby.  That was the only time he opened his eyes

Daddy gave him a bottle while we had the shower and when he got a phone call grand daddy took over.
Kim gave a great shower , no games because he was already here, and barbecue with the usual food you find at a shower. I hate to play those games so I loved that!!!

Hi friends!
Beautiful day!
Look who came to see us yesterday.
Bentley!!!
Our 10th great grand!!
His due date is today  but he is 5 weeks old today. He was in a hurry!
He looks a lot like his mother and the sweetest little bundle of joy.
Babies are the only things GOD gives us that we can hold in our hand.
His mother joined the family the same month I did.  We got married in August nearly 17 years ago and her father married our daughter two weeks later.  Our red haired Kim is his grand mother.

 

 

Tommy had been weed eating and was afraid to hold him.

His mama putting him back in the car seat.

He is a precious little bundle.

Luke's quilt and a win!

Hi friends!
Beautiful day!
Luke's quilt went from the top picture to the bottom picture.
I added 6 inches of the cowboy fabric and then 11 inches of the brown.
I got the backing this morning and I have a great stripe for the binding.

You can see the cowboys better in this shot.

It measures 60 something by 70 something.

A good sized for a totter bed or a twin size.

 

I won this from Lynn at Amlam0sa quilter.

I love them , going to make one as soon as I can get some sand.

Make one for my sister to because she quilts.

Luke's quilt

Beautiful day!
Luke's quilt is going along good but yesterday every thing I put on I had to take off!
I took something to make me sleep the night before and they mess me up.

I can't take an Alive with out it messing me up!!!!!

As you can see it is growing!
I think it will be a great quilt for a boy!
I am going to make one for Tucker and one for Adien , the other 2 of our great grands that are a little older.
 I though I would give them Luke's quilt and theirs at the same time because they both work and it may be hard for them to get over here together.

Luke's quilt and Gracie's pillow

Hi friends!
Bad night and another one coming tonight!
I found this in the remnants at Walmart yesterday and got it for Luke's quilt.
I will put some Ga. in there to along with some Falcons,  Georgia's foot ball team.

He is all boy and it wont be long he will be playing ball, another couple of years;  They start them at 4 years of age here.

I did some on Gracie,s  Pillow yesterday to.  I am going to look for some more purple in my stash , the purple I used it her quilt came from Hancock and  it faded when I washed it.  I have plenty of that
purple left and may  use it on the back where it want matter as much.  I think I have some solid purple some where.  I may just do another star like Angel's pillow

Tommy getting every thing ready for the storms last night, he does that every time we are suppose to get bad weather.  They spotted a tornado last night in Fort Payne across the mountain from us.

Hopefully it want be bad tonight.
