apple cake

a daughter, granddaughter , and a great grand daughter. they were trying to get the freezer to close with so much ice in it.

my son-in-law asked if i had made a apple cake and of course i had. and i am going to give you the ingredients so you can to.

it's called apple dapple cake    i got this from a Friends mother. i worked with both of them many years ago.

3 cups self-rising flour
3 cups chopped apples
4 eggs
2 cups of sugar
i cup of crisco or oil
1 cup chopped nuts
half teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
beat sugar, oil , eggs well add flour gradually beating well. add all other things. pour in a greased tube pan. bake 1hour 15 minutes  when cake is nearly done make a sauce
 in a pan.
1 cup of light brown sugar
1/4 cup of milk
1 stick of butter
1/2 tsp. of cinnamon
bring this to a rollong boil and pour over hot cake

tonite hubby cooked streaked meat and i made biscuits . and we sliced up a viadalia onion and a store bought  tomato. we love all that in a biscuit. i make them the old fashion way with my hands. that's the way my mother and my mother-in-law did and so did my grand mothers.  now they wont you to mix them with a spoon and roll them out with a rolling pin. i have one of those , a rolling pin,but i use mine for piecrusts....

finished my pot holder and am studying about that quilt. been looking at my new quilt books but i may just make some more blocks and make them 3 across and make my 46 year old baby a couch or foot quilt. hubby and i ran around today and got some things done so i will be at home the rest of the week and should have some good quilting time.

love you'll    good nite friends
