Working and Baking

Hi friends!
Nasty looking  Day!
Made a few more yesterday of these.
Then i got out that red flowered fabric and made another block.
This is a envelope block!  you make this to make the other blocks that i have been working on.
Then you cut it up and rearrange the pieces. It makes this beautiful block!  Then you sew the pieces together to make this!
I love making these blocks, it's magical!
Yesterday for supper i made some home made bread to go with the soup.
You can see the metal mixer still in the top or bottom however you look at it.
Supper!
It must have been good we ate half of it!

I am thinking about toasting some and eating it with butter in a little while, a late lunch!
I used my bread machine that i hadn't used for years and really didn't know if it would work
Tommy bought me this years ago.
He likes to by me cooking stuff since i told him i don't really wear jewelry.
Have a great one friends.

Grey Day

Hi friends!
Still cutting! Made two yesterday, i told you this year was slow and have fun and enjoy!
I haven't decided if this is going to be a nine patch or maybe bigger.

I have a big bag of cut up scraps now so i started working  on blocks.
We had a leak so Tommy called son-in-law and he and his helper came over to fix it.
Nice to have a handy man for a son-in-law!
He's a good one!
I made a big pot of soup yesterday so i don't have to worry about what to cook for supper, just heat it up. It's always better the second  day any way!
Have a wonderful sewing day friends.
Hope it's not grey where you live.

Rainy Day

Hi friends!
Rainy Day!!!!
You know me, i don't like rainy days even through you need them!
I started making blocks for my first scrap quilt.
This one is for youngest girls step son and his wife.
We had to run to town to pay a bill and it rained on us every step of the way! I want warm summer days , not to hot! Can't wait until we can plant the garden and sit out side in the morning watching it grow. One year we had two weeks of warm spring weather in January and Tommy planted onions.  I don't know how farmers do it , they have to plant early and sometimes around here the ground is still wet until May. Tommy want plant until the ground is dry
I don't feel good today so i am sitting here eating ice cream and drinking hot coffee with it. I am still cutting fabric up as hard as i can.
Sis came over Sat. and brought me two more bags of scraps to cut up, i have finished them and am back to cutting mine up
She is thinking June is when she will retire. Said it would take her that long to get every thing she wants to move up here moved and to get rid of her furniture down there.
Her house up here if full of furniture already
We may do some sew days when she gets moved up here.
If we do i will post it on here.
Have a wonderful day friends.

Wrap Up

Hi friends!
Another block done!
Still cutting up scraps but my table is covered with' to be cut'
But i have emptied up two large bags of scraps!
Yeah for me!
I finished tying this quilt , now it just needs a binding.  By the time i get done with it , it will warm up!!!!!
I am making four patches for our next great grand girl Brailey  due in April [I think]
And last but not least i am working on  a big blanket for her too!
We have been resting more since Christmas and we needed it!
All that rushing around to finish and cooking and cleaning to a toll on us, Not as young as we used to be.
Have a wonderful weekend friends

Yesterday

Hi friends!
Cold,Cold!!!
I am still cutting up scraps as you can see.
We went over to see brothers new kitchen yesterday and to deliver some ornaments that i made for Nieces and Nephew.
I started some before Christmas but hated them so had to start over.
These are the first ones i made, they  had brown gingerbread men on them and i don't like brown.
The one with the shining button is nearly finished.
To me these look more like Christmas.
A closer picture!
Yesterday we went over to see brother new kitchen and i wore my new half gloves!
It was really cold and these are great, Thanks Laurajane, i love them.
His new kitchen!
Love all that lovely white, so clean looking!
My pocketbook sitting on the counter, and little presents!
He put in more cabinets than he had before so they could store more.
Hubby didn't say much because he doesn't want to work on my kitchen, i know how he thinks!!!
His kitchen was like mine , dark cabinets!
Have a great day and stay warm friends

Slow going

Hi friends!
Cloudy again!
My dashboard did have another language on it then my bloglovin  site had it yesterday so i uninstalled and re installed  my Firefox. Seams to have solved the problem but i still wonder what it was.
I took this block apart with 'jack the ripper' yesterday and put it back together..
Wrong!!!!
So now i am taking it apart again.
Going to watch the video as soon as i finish here.
This is my fabric and i am going to see if the red will work with it later
This little machine is a Euro-pro and for 20 dollars it's a great bargain. Makes a great seam and zigzags , about all i need besides my big brother for quilting.
It has a metal bobbin under the machine like the old machines always did.
Hoping to get a few years use out this.
It says it  solid Medal.
When Alisha sews with me she uses it, i have done some sanding on the thread track and it is much smoother.
The sun shined yesterday and i had to get out and take a walk. The temps got up into the 50ths.
Cloudy and 32 today and falling all day long , maybe 6 tonight.
Hope you'll have a warmer day!

Cutting and making plans

Hi friends!
Another sunny day!
Just cold!
I am going to be working on these blocks off and on this year until i get enough for a quilt.
And i want to try the other pattern of Jennie Doan's that starts with a envelope block.
Both make great looking  quilts!
I made two more but didn't get them right.
Sis has given me fabric scraps that will look good in this quilt and when i run out of that i may have to find some more but maybe not.
I am hoping to use mostly statch this year.
Still cutting for the scrap quilt.
I will probably cut some more this afternoon because i am cutting all sizes and need a lot of one size.  I may be able to use different sizes to make the quilt more interesting.
We will see how that goes but i know i don't have enough cut of any size so must get to work in it.
Have a great sewing day friends.

Machine and UFO

Hi friends!
The sun is shining!
Bad picture but if you look you can see my needle goes down in the feed dogs!
It bent this needle and i can't find a way to move the needle bar so i guess it goes in the ones that want work.
Don't look at the awful sewing but this is one of my first makes. Flash washed it out.
You can see i never finished it!  I started tying it but just gave up!
Tommy's feet used to get cold at night , now not so much but that was the reason for making it.
It has places that the fabric didn't catch and needs tying, i tied maybe 1/3 of it , and a binding added. So this is one UFO i need to finish! That was before i started this blog  which made it easier just to throw it in the closet.
The main reason I started this blog was so i wouldn't do that again.
I cut a lot of scraps up to start  making  my first scrap quilt to over the weekend. Need a few more so i will keep cutting.
Have a wonderful sewing day friends.

Machines

Hi friends!
Rainy day!
This is what i am sewing on right now! Giving my Brother a rest.  It quilted a lot of quilts last year so it deserved a rest.
I had to sand down a few rusty places but it runs good. Every think works well on it but it's loud so when i stopped sewing day before yesterday i oiled her down good.  I just gave 20.00 dollars for her so that's pretty good. It's a euro-pro! I had never heard of that name before
My Kenmore needle is hitting something  underneath so when it stops raining long enough for Tommy to go to the shop he will get me a allen wrench to work on it.
I watched a lot of u-tube videos yesterday and am going to try my hand at it.
It is the timing i think so maybe it will run when i get through with it.
Before it started  that it was sewing the prettiest stitches!
Looks like i am going to have to fix them for myself because it cost so much to have them fixed.
My Janome is just sitting on the table , it's been messed up since June  or July.
One that just works 6 months before going to be fixed is just to much. That's the worst 300.00 dollars i ever spent. Last time it cost me 85$  just to get her running again. Total plastic!
He brought in the allen wrenches and we got it turned so now its not hitting down in there but it still hits that foot that came with it.
When you see the range of the needle for zigzag you know it has to have another foot to do that.
Just have to work some more on it maybe we can get it running again. I will order her another foot, i think i can get the manual for free with this one.
Have a great rainy day friends.

This and That

Hi friends!
A tiny start on my first scrap quilt
Can you see that written over the top of blogger dashboard?

I have noticed it a lot lately.
It's a language that i don't read , the only one i do is English!
I couldn't get a good picture of it and when i clicked on it it went away!
I though maybe a virus but my scans so all is good ! Of course that means nothing because even through we pay good money we can still get viruses.
Supper last night!
The turnip greens were to big , i like them young and tender..
These are suppose to make you healthy and have lot of money.
You are suppose to eat hop jowls too but no thanks.
Hog jowls looks like streaked meat and we do eat that so it all in my mind
Maybe the hog jowls makes you have money because we eat this every year and have no money.
This is the last of the coconut cake i made for Christmas day!
I cleaned it up with a spoon. I hadn't eaten any of it!
Tommy loves it so i let him have it.
No more for a while!
Have a great sewing day friends.
