Danette's Quilt

Hi friends!
My first border., first time i have added borders to the side like that but it turned out good.
On the other side!
I am liking this method of adding borders!
Last night i got started on hand sewing my binding down.
Should finish it tonight.
And another one bits the dust!!!!
Glad to see the last of this one.
I have got to do a birthday pillow case , finish quilting a quilt. finish my Thanksgiving table Runner and finish the baby  gifts for our next great grand.
Shania's quilt and blanket have been waiting patiently for me to get back to them. I need them finished in a few weeks.
Have a great weekend friends.

Danette's Quilt

Hi friends!
Cut out my borders yesterday.
My backing  for it was cut in 6 peices because of the amount i had left of it but that will work.
I am going to add it with the beige because i'm not going to have enough brown to do it even after buying another more  2 yards.
Some patterns just eat up fabric. The more cutting the more fabric you need. She bought lots and I  have some beige , yellow and red left. She didn't want a whole lot of those colors in it.
The borders , just 4 inches  for each side.
That should make it wide enough, it measures 90 in length. Maybe i can get the binding sewed on today and get started hemming tonight. She wanted it today but maybe Sat. will work just as good.
Tommy had been worried about his week eating so yesterday he got out there and did some of it . He stopped when he got tired. You have to stay on him and he will get keep going. He thinks he should have all his strength back when it's just been 6 weeks since he had surgery.
You know the Dr. said no cancer well the lab results said it was but all they are going to do is watch it with cat scans every 6 months and make sure it doesn't grow back.
I just thank the good Lord that those Alive made him bleed so we found this before it could spread.
His grandfather died of it and his father had surgery at age 8o something and never recovered from it He lived a few more years but his mind was never the same after that.
Have a great day friends

Random

Hi friends!
Got all my rows done but just have three together.
Hoping to join the rest and start on the border today. Hoping to finish by Friday, Hope Hope Hope! Don't know if that's possible but i am working hard on it.
I ordered me some more thread from Connecting Threads and just had to get a half yard of this.
I love their thread and it last a really long time. 5000 yards per cone!
I love Christmas fabric, any body that knows me knows that.
I am working on at least one present that i can't show on here.
At least i worked on it about 15 minutes last weekend!

I made Tommy a sweet potato pie last night. I use 1/4 cup sugar for taste and 3/4 cup of splenda for our health.
He loves them!
I got my Janome , bad picture, out last Sat but didn't do any thing but take it apart, it takes a very small Allen wrench that i don't have to adjust it so i will see if i can get one and try again at a later date.
I just hate to see some that costly go to waste but not enough to spend 100 dollars to get it fixed  for it to run another 6 months.
Just wish they didn't make them so junky!
Have a good one .

Working

Hi friends!
Still working on this!
A lot of it is ripping out seams that i don't like.
I won this cute little purse kit from sewcanshe.blogspot, i think.
I would add a link to her but this stupid windows 10 does not want to work on my desk top.
Seems to be working on my lap top but i am not on it. It worked at first on this one , If i new how to take it off i would!
Worked a little on this this past weekend.
It's going to be a turkey folks!
My thanksgiving table runner almost just like the one Dawn is making.
I would give you a link but can't.
Have a great day friends.

Danette's Quilt

Hi friends!
I trimmed all the blocks over the weekend.
The first row that i got together was the smaller size. They measured 18 inches but these were 19 inch and more . Don't know how that happens.
This should be plenty long enough but i will have to add a small border on the sides and sandwich them and add them on.  Going to use the rest of the burgundy. But first i must get all these joined together.
The low this morning, yesterday it was 52 but got to 75 .
The man across the road has a field of rag weed blooming and we sat out side yesterday , my head weights a ton!
I just wish he had had it cut down before now, it's to late now.
Tommy tries to keep it away from us because it does a number on both of us.
Have a great day friends.

It's begining to look like a quilt

Hi friends!
I am joining these with strips , 1 1/4 on the back and 2 1/2 on the front . I iron the 2 1.2 double and it is then 1 1/4.
I got these done yesterday and then did another row.
Wasn't feeling good so i stopped.
Hope to get a few more joined together, maybe with out taking them back out. was still doing that yesterday.
We sat out side this morning and my eyes started running, It's rag weed season!
They get me big time!
Went this morning and got gas for Tommy's toys.
He was wore out by the time we got home!
We also carried off the garbage  , bought some apples from our friend than sell them every year.
Elijay, Ga. Apples fresh from the tree.
Had to stop at two gas stations because there is only one that sales off road diesel.
He thinks he should be totally recovered and its just been 5 weeks since his surgery.
Soon he goes back to his Sergent.
Have a great weekend friends.

Quilting!

Hi friends!
A stack of blocks already put together!
I cut backing and battening a little larger than my block and then sandwich just like you would a big quilt.
And yesterday i started quilting them on my feather weight.
I have read of people quilting king sized quilts on theirs but that would be so much work in just turning your quilt around just to sew  a small spot. This looks purple but it's not!
I am doing very simple quilting , my version of quilting in the ditch are near enough!
Very simple but holds it well. I think i am going to have to add a small border but am going to wait and see after i join them  all up which will be a while yet. This is called quilt as you go or GAYG.
You will see it on blogs a  lot because it's a little easier to handle than a queen or king sized quilt would be.
All battening says on the package how far apart you can quilt and it still hold up good.
This is 2 and 1/2 inches apart.
Have a great day friends.

I made 20 at 18 inch's each!
Had a great time yesterday at brother's house.
Family from both sides of their family , of course i have always know them all. I was raised with them!
My nephew  and his love who needs a pancreas and a kidney, if any one reads this and knows of one
let us know, don't know how that would work. But seriously she does need one is waiting on a call from the hospital. She is in her early 40's.
All the young ones gathered around and catching up.
Brother has a beautiful place but he has worked on it for nearly 50 years.
Noah, one and only grandson of my brothers.
Anna his only granddaughter in the pink shirt and my cousins grand daughter Mia standing next to her.
We are having little showers today! Just glad it didn't rain yesterday!
A great day to sew!!!

"BABY"

Hi friends!
My feather weight started skipping Tuesday, made me sick because i know nothing about fixing machines. I worked on it and it keep getting worse and worse!
So yesterday i posted about it on a feather weight site on face book that i belong to and boy did i get some help
Every one on there tries to help if they can and they know lots more than i do .Carmon Henry runs the site and he got on there and helped the most.
My friend Helen from Australia told me maybe i hadn't put the face plate back right when i cleaned under it. I though' how else can you put it back"  but i learned something new Yesterday. You can mess up big time by not putting it on right!
I posted some pictures and every one spotted it but me!
Carmen  Henry walked me through the fix , he is the hubby of  April of  April's 1930's and now she sews as good as new.
I an so glad i joined that site on face book and have so many great friends to help when i mess up.
I knew April 1930' from ordering things for my feather weight and they sale  feather weights to.
You should check them out , I couldn't get a link to their shop but you will love it and if you are like me just have to have a feather weight they have them.
Have a great one friends.

A working day

Hi friends!
I made another little bib yesterday, then my feather weight
started skipping and it was down hill from there.
That layer cake that i was using only had 5 colors in it. and not a whole lot of different prints so i drug out a couple of charm packs that i still had some left in and added then to the mix.
I like that a whole lot better.
This was one of them, the colors are fallish so it went in.
Their was just a few in this one so i put it in to.
This is a lot better for my Thanksgiving Table Runner.
Have a great day .

My soon- to- be table runner.

Hi friends!
My first two rows of my soon to be Thanksgiving Table runner.
Yesterday in the mail i got this from Dawn at Here She blogs at sewuquilt2 and she is making this table runner so i had fabric that would work.
She was sweet enough to send me a pattern Here is hers!
I stole her picture!

Isn't that pretty? I love Dresden's any way and love making them so this just appeals to me.
Her's is a whole lot prettier than mine is going to be.  I love her colors. Mine is a layer cake called 'home for the harvest'
I like hers better!
I have been working on another quilt that my daughter wanted me to make .
I have always wanted to make the 'square in a square pattern' and i am using that.
This is one of my first blocks!
So i will be working on both of these plus Shania's quilt.
Lots to do!
Have a great one!
