GIVEAWAY!! And the bear

Today is giveaway day!  I noticed I had reached 20000 page views and 500 post so today I am giving away four fat quarters and some charms, not shown, like I always do with the fat quarters. Two of the fat quarters are 'snow day' by me and my sister. The stripe is a fat 8 but I will put another fat quarter in to.
Well I think I beat the bear!   it's in the dryer right now, can't wait to see how it comes out.  So I have a Friday finish!  This battening was what I ordered from Jo-Ann's and I have never used before and it's thick.  if it makes a good warm quilt it will be worth the extra fighting with it.
I got it with a 50% off coupon so it wasn't to bad.
I love the way it looks, so nice and thick!

Still bagging

Beautiful day!
As you can see I made another bag, but still don't like it. It's not big enough for all my stuff so I may have to make up one.
I am naming this quilt 'the bear' because it's so hard to do anything with.  Seems like it's two steps backward for every step forward.
Right now I am taking out stitches so I can finish quilting it.  Something slipped when I took out to many pins before I should have, live and learn I guess.
Hubby is putting tomato's baskets around our tomatoes . I guess he will mow tomorrow.
Got to get back to the bear have a great sewing day!

Wayne's quilt.

Made the first block for Wayne's quilt.  I have to put a star  in each one of my grandkids quilt's because they a
re all my stars.
Put together my quilt for hubby now all I like is quilting it and the binding.      How do you like the backing?  I bought a sheet set to use as backing, so will use the bottom sheet and pillow case for the next one.   Saves on fabric!
Hubby is finishing planting while I do this. I can't get on my knees to plant tomatoes any more, or I can't get back up.
I have got to work on quilting that quilt today and maybe something else.

Pocket book

My first pocket book was a disaster. First I added to make it wider and didn't add to the top. So I now have a mess to take apart and fix.

See it looks really weird!

 

If I hadn't added on to it it would have fit.

So I will take the blue out and redo it and see if it's big enough.

I have nearly finished Lola's quilt.  Got the quilting done today , I will sew the binding down tonight.
Tried to get on the interent today and my computer refused. So hubby took me and bought me a lap
 top.
Just learning lap top and windows 8 so bear with me.

Got the flimsy put together , now i will have find some backing and put  it together .
It's not as hard to find backing for a baby quilt because it doesn't take much.
My quilt measures 36" by 40"
You know if you buy a new rotary cutter with a blade in it , it seems to last a long time, but when you give a lot to much for blades and put one in it doesn't last very long at all.
Why is that?
I am still working on our quilt too.

I just like another row of blocks having it all made and will start to put them together.   I think i will make it twin sized because i think what hubby meant was that the one i made for the couch wasn't long enough for him.

It fits me fine but he is a whole lot taller then my 5 foot 2"

Lola's quilt.

I started Lola's quilt , august will be here before we know it. The pink matches her cradle.
I am also working on our pinwheel quilt.

Some of the fabric i got for Gracies quilt is in this quilt to and some lime that i liked in contrast.. The blue green is a floursack fabric that i have had for a while.  I am using all my honey honey in it to. It takes a lot to make a quilt so you may see some more before i get thru.

Going to try to get all my pinwheels done today if hubby stays out side long enough.  It's suppose to start raining tomorrow so he needs to cut the grass.  That usually gives me until late to sew.

I am making us a simple pinwheel quilt.   I am using my 'honeyhoney'  that i have petted for months.
Hubby said none of the quilts in the living room is big enough for him so this one will be.

Look what came while we were gone.  Hubby told me to get enough battening to last a while , he was tired of us buying it everytime we go to walmart so i took him at his word and ordered me a roll while i had a 50% off coupon from jo-anns.
We went to see brother today and then got all our running around done.  He was fixing his back yard , Getting it ready for sod.   He had cement around his pool and it made it to hot.

Birthbday party!

See her little face when she saw her quilt.    Her mother sent me a message that she told her to put it on her bed.
Haven't i got a handsome grandson?
And he has a beautiful wife to!

  Of course Gracie is just beautiful!!!!!
This is what my daughter got her.  That pink on the handlebar is barbie's bike , you can put her into it and she can ride with Gracie.  Isn't she adorable laurajane?

Rainy day

Our last two weekends have been like this.

I posted late yesterday because of this sweet thing.   They came over and spent the afternoon and ate supper with us.
She has naturally curly hair.  A big curl on top of her head.  She looks just like her daddy, hubby's oldest daughter son
She want have to draw her eyebrows!!!!!
She is a cutie , turned one Jan. 2th of this year. Our sweet Clair-bear.
They have decided to name her sister , when she gets here, Lola.  Haven't made a pick for her other name yet.

I told you that sis gave me some blocks from a quilt that she had made.  One was a good sizes block and the rest  was 3 little blocks sewed together.   I just added the 3 blocks on the sides and end and  put binding  all around and make a great table runner.   From scraps!!!!
I love the fabric that she used in the blocks!!
When she was up last weekend she ask me when i was going to make that christmas quilt she bought for me.
She gave me the pattern that she used on hers but i like to pick my own pattern so i am thinking about that.
Yesterday i started another one  for the living room because hubby says my first quilt is too small for him.

 This is a block i have made for it.  I am thinking a quit pin wheel  out of some 'honey honey' that i bought a while ago.

Pretty day!
I think this is all i did in April.   I hadn't posted about finishing Gracies quilt or the table runner.  Later this week i will.
This months "May" i hope to make 2 more quilt's.and maybe i will finish April's bom and get Mays done.
Didn't sleep last night until 4:o'clock so i feel rough.    May not do much today.
I hate those nights when it's morning before i can go to sleep.  Hubby has no trouble at all sleeping.  I think it's a woman's thing not sleeping.  I know my daughter is the same way.
That table runner was some blocks that  sis gave me after Christmas in her scraps and i just love that fabric.
She made some one a quilt out of it.
Got to get something done today if it's just cleaning!   Maybe mopping will get my blood flowing!
