The snow is melting.
Look what came this morning from Cathy    Big lake quilter . She is a really talented quilter and does some amazing work.   Pop over and just take a look at some of the things she does.  She had a giveaway and i won this.  I love this book and love everything  that Camille Roskelly does

These two blocks i did yesterday for Eli and Kari's quilt.
I just wish i had more of that fabric.

Look what my sweet Husband got me!
 He also cooked my breakfast this morning and washed dishes for me twice yesterday.  He will take me out to eat Monday after i go for my Mammogram .  We always go out to eat for Valentines either early or late so to avoid the big crowds.
All of our family will work Saturday to make up some of the snow time they lost. Thank goodness we don't still work.

More Snow

Hi friends!
Its beautiful but i want cry when it's gone!

I made one block and nearly another yesterday, couldn't stop looking  out the window.
Our power just went off for a minute this morning so we have been very lucky but a tree could fall and we could still lose it.
Though i would get this done !!!
I had part of a layer cake and i made this block out of it.   Wish i knew the fabric name so i could order some more.  It is perfect for a camo quilt.
Hubby called for us some gas to fill our tank and we will have to pay 600$ for what we could have payed   300$ before all this bad weather

ICE?

Hi friends!
Bad weather!
I think i did 7 of these yesterday in between watching the weather and looking out the window, in our sun room  that Tommy built , we put in 9   six foot windows.   Great for watching the weather.

You can see the ice starting to form on the trees.
I am afraid our power will go off so i am making potato soup for Tommy and potato soup with onions
for me.
Tommy can't eat onions but he likes lots of pepper .
Going to put on cornbread now to so maybe if it goes off our supper will be made.
I made us a big pot of Hamburger stew to heat up and some home made chicken salad for sandwich's.
We have a generator to heat stuff and to run the two fridges with freezers and the big freezer so maybe we want lose all the food that is in them.

Snow Day

We have snow
The last picture was made early this morning.
We do have snow and suppose to get more tomorrow, just hope we don't get ice on top of this.
We are going to stay at home, we have gas heat, a generator and a grill so we will be fine.
Just hope the power stays on so i can sew!!!!!

WE may get a ice storm, if you don't hear from me you will know our power is out.
The top picture is what my grand Addie made me for Christmas.
The bottom picture is one she and a friend painted on her sister's Tatum's wall in her bedroom.
Her father , My son, was always drawing and had a painting hung in the State Capital.
We never got that painting back.   No one knew what happened to it.
But she inherited   her fathers talent.
Maybe some day i can say

Eli and Kari's quilt

Hi friends!
I saw this and got it to go in the camo quilt for Eli and Kari's quilt.
This is a very poor picture but it is light brown and has little deer in it and Eli hunts

  This is the two fabric's that i bought for it , the green is the right color but the text on it is about quilting.  When you buy on line sometimes it doesn't look like what you though it did.
But i have always wanted some text fabric.. So now i have it!!!!!

This is the block i made with it, light but i think it will go with all the camo colors.

This is the other block, i am taking the two first blocks apart and putting them back together right..  I will have 5 blocks made so i need to work on it today.
We had company all day yesterday so no sewing.

You should have seen her dragging her quilt when they said goodby, she was not leaving with out her 'Dora'

She is just two but she is a smart little cookie!!

Clair's quilt

They brought Clair over to get her quilt.
I think she liked her 'Dora', she keep saying Dora. She just turned 2 last month.

Here is our little' low low' as Clair calls her. little miss Lola.
She is the happiest baby , you can just look at her and she smiles.
I think all second children are more easy going and happy , might be because they have a bigger child to watch all the time.
 I am glad Clair liked her quilt , i made it with a flannel back to keep her nice and toasty.

Eli and Kari's quilt

Hi friends!
May get snow tonight, hope not.
This is my latest block for Kari and Eli's quilt.
I love the star it made but my others didn't look like that

What made these look different?
Maybe i can figure that out before i go any further.
I have ordered more fabric for this quilt and it's suppose to come today.
Hopefully i can get these to look like that, another hour spent with "jack the ripper"
I will take them apart and try different layouts to see if i can get them to look like that last one.
I hate to have to rip seams out!!!!!
Better get to that i guess.
Easter will be here and i will still be trying to make stars.

This and That

Hi friends!
Another cloudy day!
I cleaned my Janome yesterday, i cleaned my Brother last week
I am doing so good!!!

I am thinking about doing some thing like this for my one Christmas thing a month.
I could do one a month and have a cute wall hanging to give for Christmas.
I want to learn to do applique , since i don't know how this may look kind of wonky!!

I cooked some of our home grown pinto beans yesterday, i love them but they do a number on Tommy so we don't eat them often.
I just put up a few jars and we have used a lot of them.
I think we will plant some more this year in our garden.

Another pillow case

Hi friends!
It's a damp chilly day!
The last couple of weeks i have been washing Tommy's One pillowcase that i made for his big pillow and
then putting it right back on.
So i though i had better make him another before i wore that one out.

Now he has two

They don't match any thing I have in sheets but at least i don't have to dry it real fast so i can make up the bed.
We both are feeling a little better so maybe i can get to working on more things.  I was just dragging all weekend and froze all day Sunday and yesterday. Took an over the counter sinus medicine  last night and it seems to have worked.
That was the last one i had so if i am worse in the morning i will get me some more.

Bentleys quilt

Our lap sampler quilt.

Hi friends.
Not a great day!
Last month i made 2 queen sized quilt's and a twin quilt. I was wore to a nub!!
So i took it a little easier this past month.
I made a lap quilt, a baby quilt for a great grand baby to be.
And last but not least Clairs quilt that fits a toddler bed.
If i don't get over this cold their may not be a quilt's for Feburary.

Hunter's star

Hi friends!
Cloudy but maybe the sun will come out later.
I googled "Hunter's' Star block and found a good  good way to do them.
Here  is a link to her blog,. Karin of Cascade quilts broke it down into tri angles.
You know me i will try anything easier so i made this block

This is the finished block, a little larger then my 12 inch ones, i think this one is 15, . I enlarged her 6 inch one a little to much

This is mine and hers side by side!!
After much though i decided i would just do the them old way, i just like them much better.
But that's a great way to make a  'hunters star' quilt . It makes a beautiful block!
I just happen to like that brown block , it has more detail
Tommy got that head cold going around , so when we visited the Dr. he gave him a Z pack to clear it up.
You know he has COPD so it's better to treat it before it gets worse.
Well now i have it!!
I knew he would "share" it with me.
Why couldn't it be riches instead of germs.

Clair's and Bentleys Quilt... Giveaway

Hi friends!
Cloudy!
I did some more quilting on Clair's quilt, she is two so it needs all it can get.  So far all i do is leaves and hearts.

Then i did some more on Bentleys quilt, after he is a boy.Boys are rough on things.

I am trying to save this machine just for quilting and use my Janome just to piece.  Hoping they both will last me for years.  I can't afford the many thousand's of dollars kind of machine.
This says Brother on it but the same machine with juki or janome on it is many more dollars than i gave for this.
Without a computer and no fancy stitches.  The very same machine!!!
I went with this because i wanted a good quilting machine with less to mess up.
I have a nearly new singer in my closet that burned up after 9 month's with all the bells and whistles.  Not much good now , just plastic junk!!!
And my Janome tore up after 8 months because it's total plastic with a stupid computer.
My opinion of manufactures making things out of plastic and charging high prices for them would get me barred from Blogger.
My rant for the day!!!!!
