Graduation's in the family

Hi friends!
Friday night we went to Angels graduation.
She is the one with the little black flats, sandals

My daughter's baby's except for Anna and Cody plus Tucker in front. and Gracie's on her daddy hip

Great grand Katy graduated from Kindergarten. And grand daughter Alisha graduated from Eight grade but we didn't get to go to see all of these. I love all my grands and great grands.

Mother's Day present

Hi friends!
Look what i got!
Tommy came to the bathroom door right before i would have got in the shower and said   " have you bought another sewing machine?"
No i spent the gift card my son and daughter in love sent me for mothers day!

Three battening for future quilts!
They sent it in a really big box!
Sense i bough that 12 lb. feather weight he knows all machine are not heavy. The only heavy one i have bought is my big brother and it was heavy!
Had me thinking it was all metal until i found out different!

Friday finishes

Hi friends!
I did  the one hour basket and i love it.

Moonlit by cotton and steel and the rest of my fat quarters are inside it.
Thought i would see if i could do it in one hour so i cut another out. The first one i started the day before and finished yesterday.

One hour!!!!
Now i have two cute baskets to set around and put things in.

I think i need to spread the inside out better. But both linings are also cotton and steel moonlit

Visit from Bentley

Hi friends!
Look who came to visit us yesterday! Bentley our great grand son.

Of course his mother came over to! Our grand daughter Katie!
He is one hand full, all ways moving.  When he starts walking he will be hard to keep up with!
He stands there and thinks about it now but isn't brave enough to turn loss yet.
 He is  our preemie !

I am sure you have seen the one hour basket on blog land. I cut it out yesterday before i had to stop to get supper.
 I have been working on the disappearing hour glass quilt that i blog about on asimplygreat  my other quilting blog so haven't got any thing else done. I am using my 'Moonlit' by cotton and steele for my basket.
 I love that fabric
Maybe tomorrow i will have my first basket!!!

Gardening around here!

Hi friends!
 Playing with ideas with this!

How to make this the turn of the rainbow!
I have read on blogs about using gardening gloves to free motion quilt so i bought me a pair!

They are a brighter orange than this picture shows. Ii gave them a try yesterday! I got ladies small but they were a little large on my hands. 
They work but i can't use the as well because of that
  Some one with bigger hands could use them and it would work just as well as the quilting gloves.
I had trouble taking pens out of my quilting but other than that they are worth the money, just gave 2.50 for them.

Tommy watered the garden last night because the cold front went through without  giving us any rain.
But it's much cooler this morning.
No air today!

Doesn't take long when you have half a garden!
We have a few butter peas coming up so far.
This cool spell will slow it down some.

Sewing and planting

Hi friends!
I have started Gracie's quilt!
Trying to make a rainbow? We will see!

I am using 'baby', that is her name, first machine i have every named but i call my brother , brother. so now i have brother and baby.
Going to use up all those 5 inch squares that i cut, hopefully.

We got those two tomato plants out yesterday but if we don't get some rain soon we will have to start watering.

I got two six packs of these planted , need to get the others out today and re pot some of mine.  It just got to hot out there yesterday. Temp went up to 92. It was late in the day when we got back from town.
 Then last night we had company, we had ordered some Valida onions from Hagon for his ball team and they brought them to us.
Supper last night was biscuits with tomato and onion.
Tommy is putting the air in the living room right now. He has packed up the heater for the summer , hope we don't have any more cold weather!

Six years old

Hi friends!
We went to Gracie's birthday party Saturday.
She turned six.
We had a great time catching up with my daughter and her family.
Then Sis came over for a while.
Tommy took me out for breakfast and supper yesterday, My son  and daughter in love sent me a gift card to buy fabric with.
 And my sweet red haired girl, Tommy daughter Kim bought me these and came over and stayed a while.

The pattern next to the flowers that Kim brought came from Sis. She is still bringing things up and she retires on the 29th of this month.
Aren't those flowers pretty?
We had a pretty good weekend!

Happy Mothers Day

Gracies Pillow

Hi friends!
Made Gracie  a pillow for her new quilt that i haven't started yet.
Hopefully we will give it to her tomorrow.

With a fluffy cloud and a butterfly.

 This is the back of the pillow.

We got some more mulch yesterday and Tommy finished the tomato's and planted bush beans, hopefully we are finished with planting.
I see a lot of canning in my future!

New Baby

Hi friends!
It got here!
Washington apples box but it holds this.

I stopped quilting to explore this baby!

Tommy laughed at me because he said it was just a toy but we quilters know what all metal means

Came with the book and all these feet.


And look at all the needle! Came with a plastic box of bobbins too. I should be all set.
Tried her out last night and she sews great!
I set her 1/4 inch seam.
She was made in 1949, almost as old as me!
One owner, i bough her from Mechanical nature Antiques in Calif.
She had a bunch but this was the last one that she hadn't sold.
I had always rather deal with some one that's going to be there if you need them.
Came with a one year guarantee.
So i will be playing with her for years to come i hope.
I plan to just use my big brother to quilt so maybe those plastic gears will last me the rest of my life.

Garden

Hi friends!
I have decided to just go with what i want to do to Gracies;s quilt. The flowers are for me!
Yesterday we went to get garden stuff.
We had decided to just plant what we needed!

We bought tomatoes  plants , three kinds of pepper, squash, and snow peas. I bought some snow peas from Cooks one year and loved them but couldn't find any to plant until yesterday.
My freezer is still full of corn and orka.
I have soup, tomatoes , green beans and pickles canned from last year to do us this year.

Tommy putting the last pepper plant into the ground!
We planted 14 tomato plants, that should be plenty for us , any one that comes over and canning.
If i decide to make some soup this year we can always go to Cooks to get field corn and orka.
We will go down there any way to get tomato's until ours come in or get ripe for people that don't grow things in their garden.

Starting Gracies Quilt

Hi friends!
Sat. Night and last night i cut out squares for Gracie's quilt.
I haven't figured out how i am going to put them together yet.  I might not be the way the patterns call for.
I think the pattern is a baby quilt to !
I need this one to be a twin sized quilt.

I put them all in here while i worked on my other quilt.

I wanted some dots for her quilt so i went and got these.
Got to get some borders on the disappearing hour glass quilt fast so that i can start my daughters birthday quilt.

Hi friends!
Got a big box this morning but most of of was paper!
Going to try this instead of that rotten thread from Walmart.
  I have been using their thread on the bottom and i think that was why i had trouble quilting the bright quilt.

 I found the pattern that i am going to use for Gracie's  Rainbow quilt.
It's is designed by Rae of Made byRae  HERE but going to use fabric that i already have.

I think i will start cutting squares this weekend.

Our Day

Hi friends!
This one is orange instead of red.

And this one doesn't even show up!
Guess i will have to make another in the place of this.
But i will use it some where.
And i am using up scraps!

Tommy cut down brush and small trees yesterday!
Don't know how he ever did with out that tractor.
Hes out there today cutting down some more!
The trees were on the road so i had to pull on a rope to keep them from falling in the road.
He want let me do any thing else because of poison Oak.
Just had to stop and do band aid duty, a brair got him though his gloves.
He want even let me touch a towel after he has dried his hands with it because he is afraid i will get poison oak.
Years ago i had it so bad that i ran a fever with it.
I am going to stop making blocks for this quilt because i just found out yesterday that my sweet Gracie had sent me a message after Easter , that i never got, and wants me to make her a rainbow quilt. And i need to make sweet Lola Rose a quilt for a big girl bed, made her one a couple of years ago before she was born but haven't made her one since. I have been looking at patterns for a rain bow quilt but so far don't like the ones i have seen for a sweet little nearly 6 year old. She wanted it for her birthday next week but maybe she will get it  in the month of may. I may make her a rainbow pillow case to match if i every find a pattern.
