Star blocks

Cloudy day!
Good for sewing. lol
So far 5 blocks made for Jessica's quilt.  Three churn dash and two stars.
 Still working on my christmas quilt.  i am posting that on 'A simply great'
Thats a quilting blog just about my christmas quilt.  Maybe just put the quilt's that i make for us on that blog.
I plan to make 4 more quilts counting Jessica's before christmas for the grands.
Next year i want to make all my married grandchildren a quilt.  And any kids that might want one.
I have made my daughter a granny square one for her birthday last year and a pink one for my red-haired step daughter for her birthday last year.  My first two big quilt's and i told them if they would let my practice on their's i would make them another later.

Two more churn dash blocks made.  I like these better!!!
I have a lot of pink scraps around here to use here and there in Jessica's quilt.
I must say i like a little white in my blocks, makes them stand out more.
  I have seen quilt's with just  prints and though they looked great but for me i just like them a little better with white added.
We went to town today, got my hair cut and bought some apples and got some peaches from Dianne.
I used to buy from her father-in-law and then her husband .  they both died so she sales them now.  A very sweet lady.
Went to the dollar store and took care of household needs.
Hubby doesn't feel good today , i hope he feels better soon, this humid heat gets him.

Jessica's quilt!

Hi friends!
Another Beautiful day!
Jessica wanted a pink and yellow quilt!!
I am trying the colors to see how they go together.  Don't really like this mix of fabric  but it's her quilt so this will go into my block pile.  I pulled a lot of small  scrap's that i can use.

This is the fabric's i ordered for her quilt!

Of course  i have a lot of pink but had no yellow except for a few fat quarters.

I love that yellow with the flowers on it, it looks so bright and spring like.

Love  the pink with hearts on it to.

I am not much into yellow,but  I think it will make a great quilt when i get thu with it in a few weeks.

Got to get to work on it to get it done for her!

Christmas quilt

Hi fiends!

Beautiful day!

I did this Sat. night , just had to sew something.  I think i am addicted.

I made another yesterday so that makes 5!

I need to put one block together so i an tell how large they are going to be.

Then i can tell how many i will need for a queen sized quilt.

The one i saw had a border around each block of Christmas fabric in little squares, i started cutting them yesterday.  I made my size blocks at 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 each for the border.

I am going to start Jessica's quilt today to.  She wanted pink and yellow!

 Don't know what pattern i will use for the blocks.  I want to make them all churn dash.  Maybe  reverse the fabric .  Have to try that and see.

Anna's quilt, a finish!

Beautiful day!
I finished Anna's quilt!  The last picture is her with it.
David liked it to!
When i went and got them i still didn't have the binding done so did that after they eat supper. And then sewed it down.  She sleep under it that night and i washed it and took pictures on Sat.
We had 5 for two days and Jessie came before work and ate breakfast with us on Sat
We are some of the smartest prettiest grand kids, all 24.
Hubby is mowing and i have a lot of clothes to wash.  Lots of towels from bath's.
Then i can sew!!!!!

Another Christmas block

Hi friends!
Rainy day!
I just had to play with another Christmas block yesterday.  That makes three i have made so far.  I saw a quilt yesterday some where on white and it had a colored border around each block.  I just saw the picture so i don't know how big it was.   I want mine to be queen sized for our bed.
I love Christmas fabrics and have a good bit in my statch to pull  from.  But white i am running low on .   I bought 15 yards when i last bought white but that was a lot of quilts ago!!! I had seen it on sell so i got enough to last a while.
But the biggest fabrics that i am using was a nearly layer cake that i got in a grab bag from Fat quarter shop for 23 dollars. I love Christmas  fabric and loved that i got that in the grab bag because you don't know what you will get!

Anna's blocks

Hi friends!
The sun is out at the moment!
I made the last two blocks for Anna's quilt..  I will just add borders and it will be about right.  It measures 75 by 78 now with all the blocks together.
Then i messed with my little christmas blocks, they are so much fun to put together.  I still don't know what color to put behind these, i saw a red and i wasn't impressed with it.   Maybe a christmas green.
I am hoping to have the flimsy ready so the grands can help me pin together the sandwich..   I have got to make the back first and put some facing on the back of the blocks that has knit in them.
I hope i have enough of that stuff you use on knit!!!
That's a lot of work , so i better get started..

Another cloudy day!!!

Hi friends!
Another cloudy day!
Cut a few more for my christmas blocks yesterday but that was all.
You know i felt real bad all last week and while i was cutting these i looked around and saw my dirty house.
So the rest of the day i cleaned house !!!
I now have a clean kitchen part of the house  but the living room  isn't clean because hubby was in there!
Oh well i will get that when he goes out side to cut the grass!

Anna's quilt blocks

Hi friends!

The sun is out!

My next blocks for Anna's quilt called the hour glass block.  I still like one more and a star block before i add borders.

We are famous!  Are rather our barn is!!!

This weeks paper has a picture of our barn in it.   The article is about old barns.  It was a shock to see it when no one has been around taking pictures!  i guess they did it from a car.

But that is ours!!!

We had a good weekend even with out our grands, they will be here next weekend.  Got in some sewing and hope to put the grands to work helping me pin Anna's quilt Sat.

When i went out this morning to cut the orka hubby watched from the porch said he might have to get the tractor to pull me out of the mud.   It rained most all night.

But i was fine, i had the middle of the orka row packed down good so i didn't sink !!!!!!

Christmas block again!

Hi friends!  I feel so much better today!
Still cloudy!
I am addicted to making these blocks.   They are so easy and cute!!!

I put up the last of the pintos last night I think i got 16 pints in all.  Better than nothing i guess!!!!!

They will taste good this winter.

We are just getting a few tomato's and not much orka.

 Orka doesn't like cool cloudy days!

The pintos had rotted on the vine from to much rain.  every day if it's not raining it looks like it's going to any minute.

Christmas block

Hi friends!
Another of these crazy cool days in August.
I have looked at blocks and looked and can't find one that imprires me to make some for Anna's quilt.  So i made a simple 9 patch.  Don't know yet whether i will use it are look some more!!!!
I did work  on my Christmas block.  I really like it!!! Don't know what i will do for background in this block, use red or green or white???  Solid or maybe a tiny print.
At least i have plenty of time to figure that one out!
I was thinking i was suppose to get my grands today but it's next week.  As bad as we have both felt this week that is best , we have felt awful and don't know why.
Nothing you can put your finger on , just feel weak and so tired.    We have both been taking naps every day and we don't usually do that.

Block and garden

Hi friends!
Cool and cloudy!
Hubby is weed eating right now, he cleaned out part of the garden yesterday.
We are only getting Orka and a few tomato's now.
I didn't feel good yesterday but worked some on my christmas block.  Got to cut some more today and work on Anna's quilt.
That picture of the garden shows the golden of the dead corn!!!
It was pitiful this year , just half ears!!
Next year will be better.
Going to get my grands tomorrow and have fun with them.  School starts for them next week.
The rest of the grands are already in school.

Fabric

Hi friends!
Another cloudy day!
Yesterday we were gone just about all day and i was to tired to do more then cut out some fabric to work on a secret project and for my christmas quilt.
Don't you just love christmas fabric.  This fabric i got in a grab bag form Fat Quarter Shop a while ago
I will cut up some more because these may not be enough.
What i bought is not a complete layer cake.
I keep looking to see if they have some more but haven't found any yet.
Hubby was just now wanting to go out to his sisters and that would be an all day trip and i told him "NO!!!"
I was sick from from being gone all day yesterday.
Got to get some sewing done today!!!!

Fabric!!!

Hi friends!
It's thundering now again.
At Fabric.com sent me an e-mail saying 20% off of clearnce fabric so i got 10 yard at 3.80 a yard.
I needed some yellow because Jessica wants a pink and yellow quilt, and she is next after Anna's
I did some on Anna"s quilt but like a lot more.
Need to find another block that i am not bored because i have already made too many of
I think i am going to do a block of Anna's picture in the middle of this quilt.  My daughter got me some stuff to do it with last christmas.
Right now i am so sleepy because i woke up at 6 something and couldn't go back to sleep.

Christmas fabric

Raining now!
My sis gave me the first fabric and i bought a 1/2 yard of the other to make orrines out of before christmas.
I just love christmas fabric. About to start my christmas quilt.  Just make a block maybe a week.  That would work and i would have it finished by christmas.
If it doesn't stop rainning we are going to float away!!!!
They said last night on the news that we had gotten 30 something inches of rain more this year than last.
The garden doesn't get dry before it rains again.
Every thing is rotting!!!
Good thing i still have a lot left in the freezer and canned from last year.
Well it's trying to storm again.  I will get off here .
