February finish's

Hi friends!
My finish's for this month is few, mostly baby things and this quilt .
She called me and said she loved the quilt. We talked most of a hour!

Taggy blanket for next g-g.

Dora blanket!

Burp cloths. and burp and bib sets.

Quit are lot of little things including baskets for a grand son that loves the Falcons

I'm sure i have missed a few things but this is mostly what i did most of the month..

Sunday Prayers

Yesterday!!!

Hi friends!
I have been working on cutting scraps up this week, i had a basket full plus and some i won a few weeks ago, most of which just needed sorting into different sizes.

It was empty but now it's full of baggies of different sizes.
I need to cut some more up this weekend because my tubes are overflowing. I have emptied up one tote but you know scraps they multiply.
I have made scrap quilts and made them but my scraps just don't seem to go down.
We went yesterday to Rome for my mammogram and stopped by Harbin and made his apt. for his Cat scan that he needed before he visits his surgeon the last of next month. They want him to do blood work before he has his Cat scan and next month is when we need to go the see our regular Dr. for our 6 month and they always do blood work so may have to put that off. Guess i need to call the Dr's office to see about that. Don't want to have to pay our self's.
I did add a border to Alisha's quilt after we got back so i did  get some sewing done.I think this will be it because she has a twin right now , i just wanted it to be big enough to do her a few years..

The border has all the colors in the tie die so maybe it will work.

Sewing Mat

Hi friends!
I mentioned the other day that my machine needed a mat under it.  So i started sewing 4 inch squares together. I love to use up scraps.

.I sandwiched it and sewed across it for the quilting. Then i found some orange that was folded and just the size i wanted for pockets.  Sewed up in several places to make different pockets Then all i had to do was make binding and sew it on the front fold it and sew it down on the back.
Nothing to hard because it will stay under one of my machines.

Now all of my machines has a cover and a mat.

Baby Taggy Blanket

Hi friends!
Some more baby things for g-g coming in July.
I made my first one for little Shania and this one for this baby. I used the pink print on one side.

With little fishes all over it.

And stripes on the other.

With lots of ribbon for them to play with.

Need to buy some more and i think i will get bigger ones. One tute i looked at used minky on the back but i read some where that minky could smother babies, don't know if that is true or just some ones idea. I will work on some more things this weekend for the baby. I want to try the blanket tute i have seen on the internet that makes the binding  to. 

It's hard to believe you can sew two pieces of fabric together that isn't the same size.  I hope their is a video some where that shows you how. I will look when i have time to see if i can find one.

I have to get back to working on Alisha's quilt maybe today. been stalled because i couldn't make up my mind what to border it with, ordered some but have just about made up my mind to use some i have.

Dora Blanket

Hi friends!
Made our next g-g a Dora blanket.  It's blue just in case it's a boy, After all boys like Dora to.

Another old rainy deary day , we have way to many of them during the winter or have this winter. It's suppose to turn cold after these rainy days but not real cold so maybe the worst of winter is over. If it is it has been a mild one. Of course it was that year we got 25 inches  of snow in March to.

I made this on my brother 6000 and used a flower stitch.

It puckers the binding a little but that's ok.  Couldn't get a good picture of the stitches.

It's a adorable little blanket.

Sewing Machine Cover

Hi friends!
My brother 6000 didn't have a cover so I used her to make her one. I sewed a bunch of 4 1/2 inch square that I had cut and sewed  them together and made a quilt sandwich out of it.

I used muslin for the back and poly as battening. Don't want any dust to get to her workings.       

Measured the side and subtracted 3 inches for the top and divided it in half and  cut some thick fabric for the sides and sewed them on. I had some blanket binding so i banded it with that for the binding.

Just right!  Great use of scrap fabric

Next i need to make her a mat!

Sunday Paryers

Slow this week!

Hi friends!
This was in with the scraps when i went through them.
I though it was cute!
I took a bunch of the strips she had in my box of winning scraps and made a string block.

I made up four to go with the one i made several months ago, might get a quilt out of them in 5 years, you guess!!!
I think i am spending my sewing time this weekend cutting up scraps, i have emptied one tote on the back porch , my goal is to empty another.
Don't think I can do that in one weekend!
They are very big totes.
I feel like curling up with a good book and just snacking all weekend.
Don't think Hubby would like just snacks , men like cooked food.
So i will have to cook!!!

Wall Quilt

Hi friends!
I got my wall quilt sandwiched last night.

It's not real big but I can't wait to hang it in my sewing room.  Since i moved my sewing room it's hard to quilt things because my big machine makes so much noise when I'm quilting. My room is right behind His TV. So I for one will be so glad when spring comes and he starts working out side so i can quilt in peace. It doesn't do any good to close the connecting door, he says it vibrates the floor. But it was his idea to move my sewing room in there so he could talk to me.

I have a little table in there that i use for my cup of tea, don't want to get any on my fabric, sis got me some Canadian tea for Christmas that i love, one was Carmel! Its was the best, didn't last long.

I made red haired girl a cup of maple but she was chewing gum so I am sure she didn't enjoy it. Gum ruins the taste of good tea.

A Few Things

Hi friends!
I finished sewing around each piece now come the backing and battening, maybe later today.

My grandson David , the youngest turns 13 , i think, this year so made him his pillow and case. I asked him what he wanted and that's what he said ,I think his birthday is around Easter this year.
I did have all their birthdays written down but lost that book some where. His and Angels birthdays are kinda close but she is over 18 and we have to stop birthday presents when they go to work and make more than we do. With as many grands as we have its just not possible to keep giving
We went to Tommy's first wife's brothers funeral yesterday and  was wore out when we got home so no sewing. He was all Tommy's girls uncle and three of the girls made it , of course they had to get off work to do it but his girls are good like that.
I am friends with most of them , they are good people.
Not a happy day!

Working and plans for this year

Hi friends!
I managed to get a  three inch border all around it but the next border will have to be bigger on the sides to make it wide enough. I may wish i had added the green first but it matches the green in the tie dye.

Made two more burp cloth's!

It rained all day yesterday and is rainy today. Good weather for working in your sewing room..

I made another set before i gave up and sat down to catch up on my reading. 

I read a lot , and sew a bit to!

Its great to be retired and able to do what you want with your time. I love quilting and sewing baby things!

I need to make me a new purse but don't have the time with every thing else i need to make. I have three quilts i am going to make on my other blog "asimplygreat"  Here

I want to finish Alisha quilt , make  Michael a quilt , baby quilt and My daughter one by June , Plus i want to make all 4 of my  step-girls a quilt for Christmas this year using a quilt top made by hand by their grandmother and a quilt for my son and wife  for Christmas lots of  little things to.

Not to much to ask .

MY Weekend

Hi friends!
Another bib!
I finished a few sets!

For baby Jones, Brad and Demi's July baby.
I also finished one border on Alisha's tie died quilt.

I am thinking about maybe a small green border , small because i don't have much here .                  

What my sweet hubby got me , i told him no chocolate because soon we will have to go for blood work.

I got a big box in the mail Sat. and  inside was these two hugh bags of scraps that i won from Erica from

I had a lot of fun playing with those bags of scraps this weekend.

Happy Valentines

Feeling Better

Hi friends!
I felt better after supper so i cut out a few things.
Bibs and the rest of the  white borders for Alisha's quilt.
Didn't sew because it was getting late and didn't want to mess something up.
The blue one already has a burp cloth to match., i will have to make one to go
with the  pink elephants.

Got all the  first  borders done to.
Should get them sewed  today and cut another for the second border.
They are saying maybe snow , maybe rain for Monday!
I don't care as long as the power and internet stays on so i can talk to my friends.

Today

Hi friends!
We had a rough night! They must have picked up the chickens at the 4 chicken house above us. I hope the owners had to go to work today and they didn't get any sleep last night. But they were happily counting their money i guess!
That roar went on all night ! I feel sorry for people living closer then were are.
I didn't get much done yesterday sewed one border on one side  and then cut some scraps up.

I went digging in my totes on the enclosed porch and cut a few up that was to small to use for any thing else. Found a few more fabrics but still haven't found what i know i have but can't find.

I bough some paper doll fabric in blue just for baby things but we haven't had a boy for the last couple of years.

I bought  a half yard each of these to make baby things last week at Walmart.

Need to get to work but think i will go lay down !

That's how bad i feel.  Not like me to feel this way, Tommy thinks i have a cold!
