Spring 2022

Hi friends!

It's spring with those awful tornado's.

Tonight we are suppose to get storms but hopefully it want be bad!

When I retired I lugged brick and laid them out around a tree and dug up buckets of dirt from the woods and planted a flower bed! These above are beside the house!

Now it's a ant bed!
 

Still has a few flowers blooming in it but not many.

My latest diamond painting!

I have been sewing!

Made this yesterday, hot peppers, Fits the subject!

Saw the fabric and grabbed a yard, even thou I have way to much fabric here already! Hubby just takes off when we get in Walmart so I made a trip through the fabric! While I was "looking" for him!

Want to have a few of the double pot holders when every one comes Sunday , if anyone wants one!

Quilt for Two Greatgrands

Hi friends!

We have two great grands sons , brother's, that I haven't made a big boy quilt for so I started one yesterday.   Maverick and Brad!

This is a small panel that Sis gave me when she was clearing out some space so she could sew in her sewing room .

A little closer look!  After I added some colors.

Sis used to have a house here , her retirement home and one in Athens where she worked! But since she retired she just has one here  so she bagged up some and brought it to me a few months ago.

I have been enjoying it! Going to try to get at least one quilt made for one of them in the next few weeks.

Takes me longer to get one made now!

I want to use this for the whole bottom of the quilt!

 

That's my plan for now.

Hopefully I can get started and make some progress today

A Little Sewing

Hi friends!

Thought I would make up a few of these because every one loves them so much.

They have moved every thing in Our Walmart and I forgot the get cotton battening.
 And you need cotton battening for these!

Did get some of the two dollar a yard fabric! And If it's still on sale next week I will get some more.

As hubby says I have more fabric then Walmart!

What I got!

Not bad unless it thin!

I go back next week for pills and will get some more battening and instr-bright.

Of course I will look for something on sale!!! And will buy more if I find anything !

Grandkids Visit

Hi friends!

 Our lawyer grand kid's , Michael and Ashley came and  Our New Yorker , Tatum for a visit yesterday. She is down for a week for a friends wedding. Their parent Chris and Amy are in Mexico for a wedding of Amy's friend . A friend from Gainesville, Ga. where they live.
Every one is very busy for spring break.

All of ours are out of school, on to college or working now so we never notice when spring break comes

I got out my quilt that I made a few years ago in honor of Dawn . She is making a lot of the blocks from this book!

I love making blocks from this book!

Made a king sized quilt but still didn't get all of the blocks made  from this book.

Still some in there I would love to make!

You get your moneys worth from this one!

Our Weekend

Hi friends!

My new kitchen curtains!
 I am fuming today, got a letter saying they were going to sue us over a book that we didn't order! I have always heard that if they send you something you didn't order, it's yours! Plus it cost to send that stupid thing back. And all it is is a summery of magazines we already gotten and  paid for.

I guess we want be ordering their magazine again! Thing is we get about three of their magazines every month!

We get "Farm and Ranch", "Country" and "Country Extra"!  Already paid for the next year, "county " is paid for two years.

This morning I was thinking about ordering their "Reminisce" Magazine. Want now!!!!

After our company Friday night, I realized I had   forgotten to take picture's.

I cooked gravy , Steak and Biscuits and baked beans for my sis, and my sis-in-laws birthday.

Sis's birthday is March 16 but she was on Vacation and Sis-in-law's is in April so we make it sometime between.

I told you last week I finished and gave the t-shirt quilt to My daughter-in -laws Sis   last Thursday.

I also made her a stack of Kitchen things to carry to her son. Promised her I would make her a few to.

Made this for Sis.

Made my sis-in-law one with M.D.

Didn't have enough to spell hers out. Plus It would have been hugh!

Making Pot Holders

 Hi friends!

My sis-in-law wanted some new potholders!

Made these two yesterday!

Been working on this all month.

Should be finished with it before Thursday and can start another in the new month.

Plan on making a few more pot holders today.

Think I will try a round one !  Never made one of those before.

Internet Out

 Hi friends!

I have been cutting up scraps from my stash. Trying to tame them.

I did not like how one block crinkled, sorry interfacing, so I took it out to replace it.

I am hoping the washing I am going to give this after I finish will take care of the rest, but that one block bothered me!

We have not had any internet since Monday afternoon until they finally got it back on. They called me to tell me it was on but I didn't have any and it took all day yesterday just to get that fixed.

I called and called all day long. Finally it came back on.

A Plantation Here in The South

 We have seen logging trucks coming by here for weeks, one day we followed one going back and figure out that they were cutting the old McQuarter or Stubb's place. The only place around here that was a plantation with slaves many years ago. There was some depute with relatives that they didn't even know they had so they are cutting  to pay them off. It' over two hundred acres. Don't know if they cut enough to buy them off are not but they have quit cutting !

So yesterday we with Kim and Richard drove over their to see what was left!

 

I think their land goes to the foot of the mountain!

We saw lots of their place that wasn't cut but it looks like Ga. Power cut it and replanted it so I guess it sold to cut a few years ago.

It's sad to see these cut feilds.

 Working on the binding but had to fix one spot that had folded.

Been working on this for a while! Nowhere near finished!

Beautiful Sunrise

 This morning's sunrise!

All I got done to the quilt over the weekend!

But at least it's ready to go. Had to go to town before I could sew! And of course blog first to! So it should be on the couch to hand sew the binding down later today.

We are still staying pretty much at home. Sister in law is getting her strength back slowly.  My sis's birthday is wed. but she will be gone then so we usually have supper between her and Margaret's birthday and hers is 11th of next month.

Getting There

 

Hi friends!

I finally rounded up all my black scraps and decided on using them for my binding.

Sewed some of it down but need to make more!  Trimmed the rounded spots down and today I will add to the binding and maybe get it sewed down.

Need to make two big bowl cozies to .  Got all the rest done .

Its cloudy here today and they are saying MAYBE snow here tomorrow.  Starting tonight sometime.

In the South it's a big MAYBE.

Finished Printing

Hi friends!

Got the quilting done! Now I am looking for some binding.
 

They are saying we will get snow Sat.  I hope it's just flurry's because we are suppose to have our first quilt meeting of the year that day!

Haven't seen our girls since our last meeting.

Lots of them can't drive after dark so we skip them till the time changes.

If so I will post pictures on Monday.

Finished this one but it's just small area's, snowman and vest are painted on.

Our Weekend

 Hi friends!

Bradford pears!

Storms after while!

Sat. I added strips on the bottom and top, plus backing fabric and then added battening and pinned it but stopped there.

Start back this afternoon by quilting and then it will be ready for binding if I don't decide to add a little to each side. May not have enough fabric for that!

Stay safe friends! We still had 35 cases of Covid  19 in the last two weeks.

Worrying Two Days

Hi friends!

Have turned off the t.v.!    It was depressing me and hubby!!!    I have got zero sewing done the last two days.
 Made's you want to drop a bomb right on top of Putin's head!

Hubby got some liquid concrete to fill in a crack in the back porch, hoping that stops water from getting under the house. If not It will cost a lot of money to fix it.

It is ruining our floors!

He is going to fill that hole with cement. Then we will see if it works next week when it rains.

It is always something when you live in a house that was here during the Civil war!

Hubby's great greats heard the cannons in Chattanooga Tenn.

Now to let it dry before it rains!
