August Finish's

Hi friends!
My finish's for this past month.

Tonia's Beach Quilt and Pillow shams
Plus my finish yesterday.

Missy's couch quilt.
Not a whole lot but it keep me busy.
Cool today and cloudy, maybe it will stay that way we need some cooler weather .
Been in the ninety's way to long.
Maybe just be fog burning away ! Yesterday it was clear and hot all day , the day before we got 2/10 of a inch.
But I think we are still 5 inch's over for the year.

Finish!

Hi friends!
One lap quilt finished ! It measures 50 by 65. Just right for the couch1
I am still making string blocks a few a week.

Made this one last night.

This one last weekend.
One thing about it as long as you make quilts you will have some good scraps to make these blocks.

Worked on my pinwheel blocks yesterday but couldn't decide on a solid or a print for the star part.
we had a crises this morning, our air in the living room wouldn't work.
The remote needed new batteries!

Anna's Quilt

Hi friends! 
I got busy and made a bunch of stars for Anna's quilt. 14 to be exact.

Sent Anna the top picture and she said she liked it better than before.
Of course I will need to make some for her pillow shams.

Added some together just to see how long I would need to make it. Queen sized!
I will spend a day working on joining all the stars.

Joining Rows QuiltasyouGo

Hi friends!
Putting together rows!
Much easier when it's just 50 Inch's across.It's just the same as doing the blocks just with longer strips.
I put black on the back and yellow on every other row on front, two inch's and pressed down to one. One and 1/4th on the back pin and sew down where you are adding the next strip then pin to the back of the next row lining up the joins.

See!

I should have spread it out better.
But you just do the same with the long rows as you did with joining each block.

Next Anna's Quilt

Hi friends!
I always wanted one of Bonnie Hunter's books , found one more in line with what I could spend and ordered it.
I may never make one of these but I have it just in case.

I cut a stack of parts of Anna's Quilt.
Should be able to make a top when I finish making all these stars.
Maybe next week!
I plan on putting together my strip quilt  next week to.

We are making wheelchair quilts again this year  but for the nursing home in Center Ala.
I found some blocks that I had put up so all I had to do was make a couple of them up and sew them together. They need 33 so I made my first top. Tommy has a cousin in this one so I will make one .
extra special  for her.
That big star block  that has been on my quilt wall so long should work well in the next one.
I finished my last double star for my "sewing Stars" with Happy quilting and updated my blog post yesterday with a picture of all of them so Now I have till Wednesday to finish the next three.
Lots of work for this weekend and I need to clean to. When we get over this mess I will clean and Lysol every thing.
Not sure when that will be because  we are  still sick !

Sewing Stars BOM

Hi friends!
I signed up for Happy Quilting's bom , Here is her link , Its called Sewing stars ,saved the info then this messed up computer lost it all! Asked Colette  if she knew what it was and she sent me the info.
Way behind because of that and this sickness!
But started it yesterday, maybe I can get three of threes and the next three done by next Wednesday when the next blocks come out. Then I would be caught up!
We went to the Dr. yesterday and came home with matching antibiotics.
He said we had a bacterial infection in our sinus. Very catching!
Hopefully in a day or two we will be back at it.

Two down!
Now three done.

It's going to be a Christmas Quilt for me!

Lap Quilt

Hi friends!
Five rows measures 50 by 63! Two inch's short on the length.
So I came up with a quick fix!
When I trimmed all the blocks I had some large strips that would just fit.

Should work just fine.

String lap quilt

Hi friends!
Felt a little better yesterday so I sewed some  more of the string blocks together in rows.

Worked on it for a while. One good thing about being sick is nothing taste right! So not eating as much. Still eating because I can hear my Mother saying." need to eat so you will get better".
Not much better but I guess it has to run it's course.
Maybe by later this week.
Lots of people has it! So it either really contagious or I got around some one last week some time with it.
But Noah has it and I haven't seen him , Kim has it and I saw her last Friday.  She got up with it the same day I did.
Just hope my daughter and Jessie and family didn't get it..
It really makes you feel rough!
Don't feel as good today as I did yesterday!

Week-end

Hi friends!
Sat. we had a breakfast with my daughter ,Nette {Danette}and her daughter,Jessica and husband Richard and our Tucker.
I woke up at three o'clock that morning with a stuffed up head and a sore throat.
Just hope I didn't give it to them.
Afterward Richard and Tucker went out side and played foot ball.

He's a cutie!
Course Great-Grandmas think that about all their babies.
Thankfully I am better to day.
Maybe I can sew some today. No sewing all weekend!

Sunday Prayers

Step by step , Joining Blocks qaug

Hi friends!
How to join blocks  by quilt as you go.
This is two inch strips ironed and folded down to one inch. These are for the top!

These are 1 1/4 inch are if you prefer 1 1/2. What ever works best for you.

Pin the yellow to the front and the black to the back at the same time.

Sew down!

Now lay the back of this block to the back of the next one you want to add.

See fronts facing our-ward , backs together.

Sew the black to the back of the other block.

Pin the yellow down to the other block and sew down.
Not hard at all, you have your blocks quilted and joined by this step.
I will show you had to add rows maybe next week when I get these four block rows finished. When you finish all you have to do is bind and add a label.

Joining

Hi friends!
Decided on yellow on the front and black on the back of each block. Because I had a hard time finding enough fabric in one color. I have lots of fabric but most are smaller amounts where I had some left from other projects.

Lots of different fabric on the backs of these blocks.
Just happened to grab two with the same.
This should finish fast, just hard to get them lined up just right with each other for some reason.
Had a good day of sewing yesterday!
You really need those !

Last two blocks

Hi friends!
Yesterday was a day with very little time to sew.
Had a dentist apt. that took a while and a visit to the funeral home last night.
Stood in line to see good friend and good christian man .
But my back reminded me that it didn't like standing !
Top picture is next to last block for this quilt, took me two days just to make it.

Last block done last night.
Will be making more of these because my strips just keep growing.
I am going to start putting it together today! Staying home and resting by sewing. Tommy needs to mow!
I need a day to sew to!

Trying Fabrics

Hi friends!
I laid out my burgundy with my blocks yesterday.
It looks o k I guess

That was to busy!

Just doesn't do it for me!

This might be it! Surprising at the amount of yellow I had in my scraps.
So then I got my 12 1/2 inch ruler!

I had nearly enough for a 50 by 65 lap quilt.
Needed two more!
So of course I started making. those!
Then Tommy said "Lets go see my sis".
We did and Was 9:30 when we got back so dishes and news then bed!

Daughter's Quilt

Hi friends!
My daughter came to see me Sat.
Got her quilt and pillow shams a little late for her birthday. It was June 8th.
About the time I cut my finger!

She sent me a picture Sat. night.

Was thinking about doing the joining strips with this burgundy! I have two yards of it.
Don't know  if it will work. I guess I will spread it out and place a bunch of blocks on top.
Just to see . If it doesn't I will go stash looking.
I am sitting here in my desk chair and It drops just a little and a minute later it drops just a little more. In a little while  I will be on the floor!
Need fabric not a new chair!
Maybe I can put blocks under it!
