How I Make String Blocks

Hi friends!
I take anything you would use for backing ,old fabric that you don't like any more or muslin.
Cut it about 14 inch's square because the blocks are going to be 12 inch's.
Spray starch , iron and get rid of all wrinkles.
Then spray lightly with basting spray.

Lay scrap battening on top  or cut you some, turn and iron again.
Now you are ready.
That's it friends, Join them and adding binding and you have a quilt.

How do you hide the join in back? Do you use a strip of fabric? I am putting all my strings in one big jar to get ready to make some

Adding the batting is a great idea. said...

You do your string quilt as a quilt as you go?

After reading your quilt as you go tutorial, I came back to see how you constructed the blocks. I see the layer of batting, foundation square and the styrips, but when you are talking about backing, have you added another layer to be your actual quilt backing? If my question sounds loopy, chalk it up to old age and the weather.
